Here are the details of our upcoming walks and events.

Walk Grades

Leisurely - for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience.The walk may include unsurfaced rural paths. 

Moderate - for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. The walk may include some steep paths and open country and may be at a brisk pace. 

Strenuous - for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. The walk may include hills and rough country and may be at a brisk pace. 

Walkers in doubt about their fitness are advised to contact the leader in advance

For your own and others’ safety, please abide by the guidelines issued by the  walk leader. Although every care is taken planning walks, we can accept no liability and participation is entirely at your own risk. Please bring a packed lunch and drinks. Update from the Ramblers on COVID-19

  In line with Government advice Ramblers G.B. is suspending all volunteer activities from Wednesday 18th March 2020. This includes group led walks, Walking for Health schemes, all training including walk leadership training, path maintenance working groups, coach trips and holidays, meetings, group and social events. All Ramblers activities are to stop until further notice. This applies from Wednesday 18th March to at least 31st May, subject to further developments. 

The above is being implemented in order to protect the health of members, volunteers and staff and also to help suppress the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Coach Ramble to Herriot Country

In line with the vision to complete the Herriot Way; a 52 mile long distance path running through some of the best scenery in the Yorkshire Dales; there will be a choice of two led walks as detailed below. 


The coach will set off at 8.15 from Steel's Depot near Kildwick level crossing. Secure parking is available. The next pick up point is at 8.30 from the coach park at the rear of the Town Hall car park in Skipton near the Three Links Club.The coach is due to return at approximately 20.00 (20.15). The cost of the coach is £18.



Moderate walk - this 8 mile circular walk is a classic around Upper Swaledale from Thwaite taking in Keld, Muker and the famous Muker Meadows which are usually at their best in June. 

Strenuous walk - this faster paced walk covers a 12 mile section of the Herriot Way from Thwaite to Hawes over Great Shunner Fell which offers beautiful views of Swaledale and Wensleydale. 

Alternatively you may wish to enjoy your own activity in and around Hawes. 



The post walk two course meal will be at the Station Inn, Ribblehead at £17 per person. We are aiming to be there at approximately 17.00. Please select your menu choices from below - 

Mains

A - Giant Yorkshire pudding with roast beef and potatoes
B - Steak pie and chips
C - Fish and chips
D - Risotto - vegetarian.

Desserts

A - Sticky toffee pudding
B - Lemon posset
C - Strawberry and champagne cheesecake
D - Selection of ice creams

Coach fares are to be paid to Andrew Gold in full by 29th May and meal costs are payable on the day of the coach ramble. 
In line with the Station Inn's policy all cancellations after 4th June are payable in full.

Walking Weekend in Whitby

There will be led walks on both Saturday and Sunday taking in the stunning coastal views. The walks are open to anyone and attendees are to book their own accommodation directly. As car parking is restricted it is advisable to book car parking at the hotel. 

The designated hotel is The Royal Hotel, Whitby which has 115 bedrooms, including 22 single rooms. They also have offers should you wish to extend your stay.

Rail Ramble Around Garsdale

Based on the summer train timetable the intention is to catch the 9.17 train from Leeds which is due to arrive at Garsdale at 10.54. If you are hopping on the train at Skipton it leaves at 9.57. Once in Garsdale a choice of walks will be offered - 

An 8 mile circular led walk which takes in the scenic parts of the Lady Anne's Way or 
a 6 mile shorter walk is also planned.


The Moorcock Inn is to provide us with a menu for a two course meal to be served at approximately 16.00. This will enable us to catch the return train leaving Garsdale for all stations at 17.27 arriving back in Skipton at 18.21 and Leeds at 19.07. The likely cost of travel based on the current return full train fare between Skipton and Garsdale is £13.90.

Annual Meal

Due to popular demand this is to be held at the Calf' Head at Worston, near Clitheroe.

The meal will be preceded by an optional 6 mile walk and will not be a repeat of 2019's walk!!!
